Cast your vote!

The most exciting meeting of the year is already over! Check out the Road to Glory that lays ahead of us (on the side bar). Based on the loud random conversations we've had, this will be an exciting year!

Now, it became obvious that this blog will become the cornerstone of our book club experience. As your devoted blogger, I am grateful to the many people have already contributed to this forum. Special thanks go to Jonathan and Andrea, in no particular order.

As agreed, you need to cast your vote for Jonathan's recommendations, to break that suspense as soon as possible. So don't wait any longer, everyone is eager to start reading!

I'm happy to report that after much thought, great deliberation and careful consideration, Karen - in her great wisdom - has opted for Jonathan's second choice: Divisadero.

Behold! Thy liste is now complete ;-)

Let's play poker the night we discuss Divisadero! I actually heard this author read from his book last year and some of the scenes sound interesting.

Karen, in your great wisdom you saved us from having a heated discussion over the personal character traits of Ayn Rand!

I actually think that it might be fun to have a quick Ayn Rand discussion at our next meeting. It seems that Jonathan is as big of a fan of Ayn Rand than Steve is, and I'm sure Natalie would be happy playing the devil's advocate...

Bookclub master: Would that be un-heard of and impossible to pull off?

...and who are fighting climate change???

Man, go read The Times!

Of course we can make some time to talk about Ayn Rand as an author at one of the upcoming meetings. Lets make sure her fans (Steve and Jonathan) are there for that one! Since some of us could not get through her, it will be interesting to see why some of you really like her stuff in general!

We can always make the time before the 'meat' of the discussion to talk about anyting literary or other books that we are reading in all our free time....

Book Club Master... Someone's been reading the book of the month ;-)

I have certainly been reading the book of the month. I am turning into Ocscar the nerd. In addition, I have added all kinds of new and rough vocabulary to my list - I might start spitting profanities at the next meeting after this book (79 pages left)!!

By the way, here is my reading personality: "You read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You're open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors"

You can find our yours at: http://www.bookbrowse.com/quiz/

I am currently reading "The Trachtenberg Speed System of Basic Mathematics". What would Ayn Rand think about that?

Jonathan, you'll have to open up the next meeting with a summary of it!

Bookclub master: please use your own name when posting, everyone knows that I'm way to shy to publicly post my reading personality!!!
